Beginners guide to Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop is the industry-standard tool for digital imaging, which makes Photoshop expertise a valuable commodity both in the workplace and for your personal photographic journey. Learning Photoshop is also a good way to learn imaging concepts. Concepts you learn from working with Photoshop apply to other imaging tools as well.

If you’re new to Photoshop this course is for you. You’ll get to grips with retouching imagery, working with layers and lots more. This is the most suitable course for those wishing to understand the fundamentals of Adobe Photoshop to ensure you start working in a non-destructive manner efficiently in a modern work flow.

This course is available on one evening a week over 4 weeks or over one whole day.

You will need your own laptop with Photoshop installed. Any version from CS6 upwards is ideal but lower versions can also be used.

This course is designed to teach the best Photoshop techniques for those that are new to the application.

The course will cover the following.

  • Image file formats. RAW, JPG and Tiff
  • Compensate for flash lighting and red eyes
  • Increase/decrease the contrast and brightness of your artwork
  • Understand how layers work and adjust accordingly
  • Making transformations
  • Examine the difference between RGB and CMYK
  • Adjust content for different sizes and resolutions
  • Create type and produce simple adverts
  • Output artwork for web and print
  • Evening Course

    This is an evening course and will start at 19:00hrs to 21:00hrs once a week over 4 weeks.

  • The first night meet at venue for 19:00 start.
  • 2 hours tuition each evening of the course
  • Course finishes at 21:00
  • Tea and coffee is provided.

    Day Course

    This is a one day course and will start at 10:00hrs to 16:30hrs.

    All day course start at 10:00 prompt and finish at 16:30.

  • Meet at venue for 10:00 start. Introductions with tea and coffee
  • Course starts at 10:20
  • Lunch which is provided at 12:30
  • Course resumes at 13:20
  • Refreshments and review of the day at 15:30
  • Course finishes at 16:30
  • Tea and coffee is provided.

    Travel is to be arranged by delegates at your own expense.
